A good e-commerce website builder will take care of all this for you with a simple click of the mouse, but you can definitely expect to pay a pretty penny for it.

Some general website builders can take care of what an e-commerce website builder would do for you, but probably not quite as effectively or intuitively. Getting a specialized high-end website builder for your e-commerce website may well be worth the cost.

You don’t want to give out too much information because you do want them to go on and purchase the actual paid product, but you can give them some good tips without revealing exactly how to do it all.

As an affiliate marketer the more you can give your prospects in terms of quality and information, the more you’ll stay on their minds. Giving a way a free report is a good way to build your mailing list as well as give something of value to your customers. You’re also establishing yourself as an expert in your chosen field, which will build trust and credibility with your customers.

It’s also thought that when customers download a special report onto their computers it creates a sense of increased value. This report is on their computer and they can access it at any time, whereas an email can simply be deleted. If you go a step further and have a nice cover made for your free special report you will increase the perceived value even further.
So when do you write a free report?

Anytime you can is the answer. Free reports can be written around a product or several products you’re promoting to your target market. For example, if you’re promoting a learn to read phonics program for parents of younger children, then you can write a report which talks about the importance of reading to children, how early reading helps build vocabulary and self esteem and so on. You can add reading statistics about reading improvement by using the phonics system and even include a story or two about children whose reading has improved due to using phonics.

The report shouldn’t read like a sales pitch but instead should focus on providing value to your customers and the information they crave. Throughout the special report you can include your affiliate link to a recommended phonics programs, and perhaps several other affiliate links for similar helpful products. You don’t want too many links and you want to make sure the products you do recommend are all related.
How long should the free report be?

“Hey Mary, I just found out…

[Benefit statement] = how secretary’s  can make more money part time than their bosses do full time. If you’d ever like to know more about, just ask.

Could you please pass the [salt]?”

Mary:

“What?  How does that work?”

Now you’re leading the conversation, you have the power because you are in the strong position. But be careful, now is the trickiest part of all and you don’t want to raise the “anti-sales” filter. So what you say next is crucial and it will determine if your prospect will ask you for a presentation. If you want one that will work almost 100% of the time, use this one:

“Well Mary, I can give you a presentation but it would take an entire minute.  When do you think you could give me an entire minute.”

And your done! This is so powerful because all prospects will reply…

“How about now?”

There you have it. You have your prospect asking you for a presentation NOW! How beautiful is that? And because the idea comes from them and not from you, they will be so much more receptive to what you have to say.

Now that you have your prospect asking for it, I know what you are thinking… How can I present my opportunity or business in 1 minute?

Step 1: Ask 2 Powerful Questions

First thing first, you don’t want to speak as fast as you can and try to fit a half hour presentation in 1 minute. This is not the goal here. If you do that they will become confused and their “anti-sales” filter with start to block everything you say. This is the wrong approach.

Remember, we are sorting and not selling. You have brought the business up and they have asked you for more information. At this stage you are not trying to get their attention anymore, you already have it. You now have to move to the next step which is qualifying the person. This is how I would go:

“Well Bob, before we get started I have to ask you a couple of questions. Is that OK?”

We want to ask question to know what they are passionate about, what resonate for them. This helps you find out why they are interested and what is their level of interest. To do that you have to ask two simple, very important questions. The first one is to find out their “WHY”. It goes like this:

“Bob, what would you like more of in your life and what would you like less of in your life?”

This help people to open up. They will think about it and they will tell you what is it that they want to change in their life. It could be create a residual income stream for retirement. I can be create passive income to have more time with the kids. Listen very carefully and remember what they say. To get a little bit more information you can add something like:

“Bob, how would that take to make that happen?”

You’re trying to get a figure here for the following questions, to see what there target is and how serious they may be about this. Then, when you have all the information you need, you can ask the second question:

“Are you serious or just kidding around about paying less in taxes and getting $XXX for Y?”

This is were you use the information you got from the first question (XXX would be the amount they gave you and Y would be their “WHY”). This will show them that you listened to them and by doing so you will touch their heart.

Those two little questions are golden because they will give you all the information you need to qualify your prospect. It will give you their “WHY”, it will give you their monetary target and it will tell you if they are erious about it. And at the same time it will put you in a position of power because you show then that you are not kidding around with this. It is business and you can make their “WHY” come true.

Step 2: 1 Minute Presentation – Sort, do not Sell

This step is very simple and you can follow the scrip below. What you have to do is ask 4 questions and make sure that your prospect is a person you would like to work with. This is your primary objective. Here are the 4 questions that I personally ask to my prospects. You can adapt the questions so they fit your business.

You:

“Great. There are 4 things you would have to do to make that kind of money in our business. First, don’t change anything you are doing today. Continue to do what you do all the time, recommend things you enjoy like you have with books, movies and restaurants. Easy, right?”

The Prospect:

“Yes.”

You:

“Next help me identify find 1 or 2 people in the next week who would like to get paid to… [put your opportunity here, for example... "drink an all natural supplement, have more energy and improved health. Almost everyone today is more health conscious right?"] Does that sound like something you would be willing to help me do for $XXX a month to have Y?” [Use THEIR figure and reason]

The Prospect:

“Yes.”

You:

“Third, find 2 or 3 people just like you who would like to pay less in taxes and make an additional [Use figure and reason(s) for money they gave you], a month. We all know people who would like to earn a few extras dollars, isn’t that true?”

The Prospect:

“Yes.”

You:

“Finally, we work in teams. So would it be OK with you if I showed you and did the work with you until you were making at least $XXX a month and feel good about Y? [don’t wait for an answer] Do you think you would like that kind of support?”

The Prospect:

“Yes.”

And you are done! At this point you have finished your “qualifying presentation” and you are ready for the next step. Remember you are sorting, you are in control. If they answered “Yes” to all 4 questions they qualify for this step. If they answered “No” then you can thank them and disqualify them.

People feel fear toward things they don’t know. On top of qualifying them , the four questions do this in your prospect mind:

1. Make them familiar with recommending if they are not already.
2. Make them familiar with [your opportunity, for example "better nutrition or people who want more energy"] and they agree that it is good.
3. The are already familiar with what they want and you show them that you understand it clearly.
4. Give them personal assurance about what they are unfamiliar with and show them that they will not be alone.

Step 3. Close

You have to close at this point. You don’t want any questions as your role is to invite the prospect to review for more information. You’re an inviter, not a seller. Let the tools that you have available do the hard work for you answering the questions they may have. The tools will most likely do a much better job than you. The next step can be you sending them a CD or brochures, or it can be a 3-way call with your upline, a home kick-off, a hotel meeting, etc. It’s up to you do decide what you want to do next depending on the prospect. 

Good job, you did it. Now, do it again!

Hi guys, yesterday I posted this [intlink id="337" type="post"]1 little trick about how to talk to prospects[/intlink] to have them asking you for more. If you paid attention, you saw that I emphasized some points. I said it was simple and I gave you the exact “script” for you to practice it. Today we will try to discuss why this little trick works.

If you tried it I am sure you are already starting to enjoy it and find it fun! You can drive some people crazy with this. I especially enjoy it with people who I find are very resistant to talking about business, people who have a very cynical view of Network Marketing.

This works every time. Why? Because it calls to the subconscious mind of people. It is the unconscious mind which makes all the decisions. Have you ever heard of trainers talking about how to create more sales and teaching that 90% of the time, when someone buy something, it’s on an impulse and not a well thought process.

Want proof of the power of the subconscious? Here a simple exercise.

What does this person do?

I am going to give you a quick description of someone and you will have to write down what profession it makes you think of and how you feel about this profession. For each, I will give you my answer to both questions. Try not to look at my answers and write yours down. Ready?

Person 1:
- Works in a white dress
- Walks down an hospital corridor
- Has a stethoscope

For me, it makes me think of a nurse. I feel a nurse is calming and helpful.

Let’s try another one:

Person 2:
- Big belt with loops
- Tape measure
- Has Nails and a Hammer

I think it’s a carpenter. I feel carpenters are strong and skillful.

How about one last:

 Person 3:
- Plaid jacket
- Has a Briefcase
- Has a Loud Pitch
- Won’t leave after you say ‘no’

It’s a salesman! I feel uncomfortable and always lean back, protective. Shields up!

Don’t you guys feel the same way?

What this little exercise is all about it to show you that because we have past experiences and we because we have a preconceived idea of a certain type of profession, we make decisions based on inconscious impulses.

The nurse could be a drug addict stealing pills from the hospital. The carpenter could be a thief coming back at night robbing houses. And the salesman could be the nicest person on Earth it wouldn’t matter if he doesn’t have the correct set of skills because we already have a fixed idea on “salesmen” in general.

So, following yesterday’s post, how do you make sure that you don’t sound like a saleman and how do you create a good state of mind in your prospects so they ask you for more?

Arouse curiosity!

Don’t try to sell, try to get your prospects curious. After self-preservation, the strongest subconscious driver of the mind is curiosity. Want some proof?

You are reading this because you are trying to learn something new, you are somewhat curious to read what I have to say. Did it cross your mind even one second that maybe I was trying to sell you something? Probably not. Am I? Maybe or maybe not.

This is powerful because I managed to bypass your “anti-sales” filter and I activated your curiosity by discussing with you, getting you involved, giving you great content. • Title is confirmed as unique – You have the option to change or accept a duplicate title
• Title must be no longer than 100 characters
• Excessive or duplicate punctuation is not allowed (i.e. !! and ??, etc.) in title

As you can see, now, they make sure that your article is of quality, respecting some sort of “template”. Yes it brings some more rules upfront but the rules were already in place in the background. So this is great news. If you save 5 minutes per article because your article is approved immediately, imagine how many hours you will save after a year…

Are you missing a step in your online prospecting? Are you struggling to get results from you online marketing? Promoting your business or opportunity online can be a challenge but if you follow some simple steps you can unleash a wave of prospects coming to you and ask you to be part of your business.

1. Create your presence online

The most important of all, you have to create your presence online. You can keep learning about all the latest tips and tricks until you think you are ready. The problem is that you will never be ready. The key to success is to get started. How do you think people will find you if you don’t create a presence online. There are multiple ways to do that.

1. Create Articles: Use article directories that Google like. Squidoo, eZineArticles and HubPages are a good start. Write articles about your niche, about what you like, about yourself. Be creative.
2. Use your company website: This is a limited option but if you chose a good company they most likely provided you a good looking website for your product or opportunity. This creates a presence online for your. You can redirect people to this website directly without having to do a website by yourself.
3. Your own blog: Nothing better than your own blog to create your presence online. You can use blogging platforms such as Blogger or WordPress.org. You don’t have to install a blog on your personal hosting plan but you are also very limited in the customization of it. I recommend changing to you own hosting blog. There are multiple choices but I recommend WordPress.
4. Social Sites: Facebook, Myspace, Twitter… Be there. You have to! Nothing more to say.

2. Provide valuable content to people

This is the critical step in any successful online marketing campaign. Why would people come and trust you if you don’t give them anything valuable? They wouldn’t! This is what will set you apart from the rest of online marketers. How many times have you seen people online promoting their product of business by saying “My company just launched! This is the best thing out there. Come and join NOW!“. Sorry, that doesn’t work. Why would we trust this person that we don’t? There is no compelling reason for us to join this opportunity. It would have been better for this person to provide some convincing content, maybe some information about what the product does, maybe some some insight of why it is better than anything else already out there. Anyway there are many way you can provide content to people.

1. Articles: As we saw earlier, article is  a good way to bring content to people. It can be on article website or on your blog. Keep publishing good information and people will thank you.
2. Videos: People love videos. This is to bring your marketing to the next level. Post you video on Youtube, Google Videos and many more. We will dedicate a complete post for this. We’ll make a listing for you to tap in. Stay in touch.
3. Podcast/Webinar: The ultimate step in bringing content is to create interaction with people. A podcast (sound only) or a webinar (video presentation) are both great ways to create your online presence and position yourself as a leader in your field.

3. Generate traffic

This last step will support the other two steps (and the other two steps will support this last step). It is simple. I am not saying it is easy, but simple. As long as you take little steps and promote, promote, promote, you will see momentum being build and if you have the content right, you will have good results. So, how do you promote?

1. Article/Video sharing: When you create a piece of content online, always redirect your reader to your website (your company or your own blog) for more information or for more content.
2. Social Networking: Give little baits on your facebook or myspace and create traffic.
3. Share with your peers: Contact fellow networkers and exchange ideas. You could even create joint ventures and do cross linking between different websites.
4. Bookmarking/Directories: Digg is a good start. I’ll create a post on Digg specially as it would be too long to fit in here. Subscribe to the RSS feed to stay in touch.
5. Forums: Find forums in your business topic and be active. DO NOT post your link right in your forum posts, this is spaming. Participate in the forum life, bring content (remember!) and put your link your forum signature. If you provide good informations, people will see you as an expert and will follow you.
6. PPC: The last resort in my opinion. You pay search engines to post adds redirecting to your page. Efficient and targeted but very expensive.

As you can see, there are three simple steps to become successful in this online attraction marketing model. As I always say, it is simple. Not easy, but simple. If you follow small and simple steps everyday, it will give you the Slight Edge.
